Melba and Lawrence

Julie Winokur wtote in her essay "Slow Down: Aging Ahead" that "everyone wants to live a long time but on one wants to grow old."  The story of Melba and Lawrence is meant to raise essential questions about what it means to grow old in America and the importance of relationships, purpose, passions and memories to remain vital.
